As the election results unfolded last night on television stations, there was one kind of analysis missing from all of the punditry. Here is what the results meant to me.

            * People calling themselves “blacks” and “African-Americans” voted for “Barack Obama” (Barry Durham) because they view him as a “black” or as an “African-American,” though in fact he is neither, and they want a “black” or an “African-American” to be the president above any other consideration.

            * Women voted for Hillary because they want a woman to be the president, and they do not care particularly who that woman is.

            * Southern Baptists voted for Mike Huckabee because he is a Southern Baptist.

            * Mormons voted for Mitt Romney because he is a Mormon.

            * Young people voted for “Obama” because they view him as bringing something new into American politics, though in fact he has nothing new at all to offer.

            * Older people voted for Hillary because they feel more comfortable with an older candidate, though given her record they ought to feel extremely uncomfortable with her.

            * Republicans voted for John McCain because he was leading the pack already, and historically or traditionally Republicans have almost always fallen into line behind the candidate who gets into the lead.

            * “Latinos,” as the pundits called them, though most in that category are Mexicans, voted for the Democratic candidate they viewed as most likely to let “Latinos” keep pouring into the U.S., and they view that candidate as Hillary.

Need I tell you what is missing from the way Americans choose their president?

I come away from the election results with a sad analysis: Bigotry, prejudice, bias, selfishness, and ignorance complement the influence of Big Money as the catalysts for the determination of who will become the president of the United States. I see nothing but disaster resulting, no matter who wins the election.

A reason to vote for John McCain

John McCain, who is not a lawyer, either enjoys lawyer-bashing jokes or tells them as a reminder that both Hillary and “Barack” are lawyers. Judging from his repetition of it, here is the one that appears to be his favorite.

Question: What is the difference between a catfish and a lawyer?

Answer: One is a scum-sucking bottom dweller. The other is only a fish.
